Chrysler Book Club: My Garden (Book)

This event is no longer on sale.

Sunday September 26

3:00 PM  –  4:00 PM

Join the Chrysler Museum of Art as we celebrate our summer exhibition, Alma W. Thomas: Everything Is Beautiful with discussions on books that Alma Thomas may have loved.

Jamaica Kincaid's first garden in Vermont was a plot in the middle of her front lawn. There, to the consternation of more experienced friends, she planted only seeds of the flowers she liked best. My Garden (Book) explores the idea of the garden in Antigua where Kincaid grew up and all that she loves about gardening and plants. Uncover what inspires her, discover her affection for rhododendron Jane Grant and ordinary Blue Lake string beans and her strong dislike for the Asiatic lily, and learn about the people who tend to gardens in this intimate and playful book.
