Americans in Spain: Painting and Travel, 1820–1920 explores a pivotal moment in the nineteenth and early twentieth centuries when American artists flocked to Spain to capture its scenic charms. The exhibition will present more than seventy paintings alongside nineteenth-century photographs, prints, and travel guides with labels in English and Spanish. In this three-hour virtual workshop, discover how artists’ travels and consequent artworks shaped their expectations and perceptions of Spain. The workshop is perfect for teachers interested in Spanish history and culture as well as Spanish and ESL instructors. Allison Taylor, the Chrysler Museum's Director of Education, will lead the session.
